Why do we itch after a mosquito bite ?

Well, We've all had that one crazy itchy feeling after a mosquito bite. Ever thought of why that happens ?

Well, When a mosquito bites you with its long straw-like mouth which is known as proboscis, It injects some of its saliva containing anticoagulant that prevents the blood from clotting and trapping the mosquito's proboscis.

Yet again, Your immune system thinks assumes the contents of the saliva to be an attack and orders an immediate attack and releases histamine.

The histamine causes the blood vessels around the bite to swell up causing that red, Swollen bump on the skin. Which eventually makes you itch !

Ah ! Finally that irritating itch passed away !
